Any American Idol Watchers?
Thursday, May 25, 2006
Paul DickinsonI noticed this from Melodicrock.com...The recently ousted Chris may have a new gig with the band "Fuel" - What do you think? Maybe he should set his sights a little bigger...

    FUEL LINE-UP FALLEN IDOL:
Fuel have confirmed they have ousted American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry in their sights. This from FMQB :

"After losing his spot on American Idol, Chris Daughtry may already have a new gig lined up as the singer for Fuel. The Pennsylvania Rock band has been looking for a new frontman since the exit of Brett Scallions last year. Band members Carl Bell and Jeff Abercrombe put the call out to Daughrty on the entertainment magazine show Extra, having seen his performance on TV of their hit Hemorrhage (In My Hands)."

Getting ousted from "Idol" may be the best thing that happened to Chris. Winning "Idol" means you are obligated their schedules, appearances, albums, etc. I think he would be a good fit for "Fuel" although I am not a big fan of the group. Additionally, winning "Idol" creates a stigma that you were the "American Idol" and that doesn't go away. Probably doesn't look good on a resume if you are looking for a job as a lead singer for a rock band.

I agree with the first comment... American Idol winner doesn't mean "great rock performer" to me.

I agree...Like Rick Springfield will ALWAYS be known as "The Soap Opera Guy"...

    So, who will win Idol?

I thought that Katharine Macphee had the most talent of the bunch from the get-go - Although, she has had a couple of off nights...

I think Taylor Hicks (the grey-haired guy) might actually win this thing!!!

If Katherine can pull off standout performances this week and next, I believe she will win. But don't count out Elliot. He has the better voice of the two remaining guys.

The voting was sooo close last night...I really think either Katharine or Taylor could win next week. I guess it does matter if you vote. I never do, except for one time, when Simon ripped on Katharine when I really felt she didn't deserve it...Simon apologized the next night...The voting margin was so close that I think every vote is going to count.

The remaining two are so different in style...I think both (and Elliot) will have successful careers.

What ever happened to Rueben Stoddard, and Fantasia...Did I miss a meeting, or did they slip into oblivion? Someone please enlighten me!

Paul Dickinson said... Ha Ha! Good one! I think you're right. I watched the final episode of Idol last night, sort of on and off...Was Rueben or Fantasia part of the festivities? If the mighty Prince was able to attend and perform, I don't see why Rueben or Fanny couldn't...
