Lenny Kravitz New Velvet Revolver Vocalist?
Tuesday, August 12, 2008

According to the UK's The Sun , Lenny Kravitz is the latest rocker to be rumored for the singer position in VELVET REVOLVER. Kravitz has supposedly been "spotted" in the studio with the band although there is virtually no evidence to suggest that he has been officially chosen to replace Scott Weiland, who left VELVET REVOLVER in April.

A source told The Sun: "VELVET REVOLVER's new album will draw heavily on their messy split with Scott. The band wanted a big name who could easily hold his own and reckon Lenny is just the man for the job."

VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan told last week that the band has not decided on a new lead singer yet, and reports that former SPACEHOG vocalist Royston Langdon had all but nailed the job are premature. McKagan confirmed that the group did audition Langdon, saying he's "f****ng awesome," but adding that "at this point I'd have to say no" to Langdon getting the gig. McKagan explained, "We just have to make sure it's the right guy. Karmically, we deserve the right guy. It's a tough thing, man. We make a pretty big noise."

McKagan also said that Scott Weiland's angry public comments in the wake of his dismissal from the group last April has brought the remaining members of the band -McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum, and guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner - closer together.

Even without a singer in place, VELVET REVOLVER is working on material for its third studio album, with McKagan revealing, "We have a bunch of stuff finished. It's great. It's killer. We started getting really productive when a ton of drama started happening on the road. It was like our safe place to go to. Sometimes that's how you get some feelings out."
